Para exhibir su luminiscencia, el luminol debe activarse con un oxidante. HRP cataliza la descomposici\u00f3n del per\u00f3xido de hidr\u00f3geno. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cuando el luminol reacciona con el ion hidr\u00f3xido, se forma un diani\u00f3n. El ox\u00edgeno producido a partir del per\u00f3xido de hidr\u00f3geno luego reacciona con el diani\u00f3n de luminol. El producto de esta reacci\u00f3n, un per\u00f3xido org\u00e1nico, es muy inestable y se produce por la p\u00e9rdida de nitr\u00f3geno, el cambio de electrones del estado excitado al estado fundamental y la emisi\u00f3n de energ\u00eda en forma de fot\u00f3n.
