Al igual que otras ficobiliprote\u00ednas, APC es fluorescente, con una absorbancia extremadamente alta y una eficiencia cu\u00e1ntica alta. Es una prote\u00edna que se puede unir f\u00e1cilmente a anticuerpos y otras prote\u00ednas mediante t\u00e9cnicas convencionales de entrecruzamiento de prote\u00ednas sin alterar sus caracter\u00edsticas espectrales. La aloficocianina es la menos estable entre las principales ficobiliprote\u00ednas, susceptible a la disociaci\u00f3n en bajas concentraciones, incluidas las concentraciones en las que se realizan algunos ensayos.
